A New Glass Guess! June 8

Time for a new Glass Guess! I’m having so much fun playing with recycled cans… sometimes called upcycling. I host a retreat for beadmakers every May and this year my good friend Lisa showed us how she’s been incorporating cans into her jewelry and my heads been spinning ever since!

I wanted to add my beads into the mix so I sat down and made a batch of mini beads to use in my earrings. And I finally had time to sit down and construct some today!

So here they are… my Recycled Pop Art Earrings! I’m anxious to hear your feedback. I just love them! They’re light, funky and “green”. How cool is that??

So let’s play Glass Guess and pick one of these sets as your prize! I’m thinking of a number between 1 ~ 200. One guess per person until Thursday June 10 at 5pm EST. If no one has it at that point you can take as many guesses as you like until we have a winner. Good luck and have fun!

Glass Guess for Week of March 22

One more orange and white prize and then I’ll move on! This week we’re playing for one of the orange and white pendants I made last week. It’s screaming Spring and Summer to me.

I’m thinking of a number between 1 ~ 200 again. Sure wish I could come up with some other games you all would play but until I do, here we go! One guess per person until Friday afternoon. If no one has guessed it at that point than feel free to guess away.

Thanks for stopping by and playing. Be sure to pass the word about our little game! See you Friday…

First Must Have Monday of 2010!

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe we’re at the beginning of a new decade. I hope everyone had a wonderful and peaceful holiday season. It sure was nice to have my family home for a few weeks. But now it’s time to start up 2010’s Must Have Monday. Sorry I got a late start, my computer is acting up and I couldn’t get my pictures to load…

You know the drill! Please post your guesses here on my blog. I’m thinking of a number between 1 ~ 200. One guess per person until tomorrow at 11am EST. If no one has chosen it by then you may guess away until we have a winner! This week’s prize is a fun hollow pendant in orange, brown and sky blue.

Thanks for playing along. I’m looking forward to a great 2010! Hope yours is wonderful too!

My Challenge to You!

Nancy Sells Glass Gallstone

Along the same lines as “making lemonade out of lemons”, I’ve decided to make jewelry out of my gallstone! 😉 That’s right, the picture you’re looking at is one of the multiple, large, faceted gallstones that has been bothering me over the last few months.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet, but I promise to come back and show you the finished product! Chris Fisher thinks I could use some Moretti colors to make  beads to coordinate with it. So once I can sit long enough to make beads, I’ll see what I can come up with!

Anyone care to join me in this challenge? I’d love some company! 😉

Getting ready for Bead & Button

Red Tentacles

It’s that time of year again… preparing new jewelry to wear to Bead & Button and the ISGB Gathering. No, I don’t *have* to make new pieces but I love the challenge!

This year I needed to make something that I could also wear to my cousin’s wedding in June. I found a great dress in red and black that is simple enough that I could go a little crazy on the necklace.

My buddy Paula made an amazing necklace last fall that would be perfect for my dress. After letting her know I was going to steal the concept, I sat down at the torch and began making the freeform tentacle style beads.

Red Tentacles Close Up

I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. Now for the really fun part… seeing the reaction it gets!

Sweater Dsks

A quickie from me today! Here’s my latest Dsk! Dsk! Dsk! necklace. This one was inspired by the sweater I got for Mother’s Day. I love when inspiration just up and slaps you in the head! 😉

Abstract Autumn Gummies

My newest obsession is making these abstract beads. There are so many possibilities. This was the first group I made and yes, they look a bit like gummy bears! I love the look. The only problem I’ve had is when I make the protrusions too thin and twisted. So they’re still a work in progress. I’ll post more once I get done with my taxes and can get back on the torch!
